The Eyes Have It

Melissa and Paul's Engagement shoot, June 30th. I love this gate shot. Their eyes rock! We had fun. I like to shoot the couple's personality and of course I try new stuff. We also tried sexy and sultry but Melissa would stair at me and laugh. It was very funny but not really sexy, lol...

Summer Graffiti

Summer & David's shoot was June 26th.... So, Summer really wanted some graffiti in her engagement shoot pics and they did not want any beach shots. So I took them under a bridge next to the LA river (really really nasty place - but she wanted to go) . Then I was to follow them down town but the drove away too fast and left me! I tried to get back at them with the sombrero pics but they loved that more than being under the bridge...

No Pretty Flowers Here

So some clients tell me- "We don't want any pretty flower or beach shots for our engagement pics, we don't like that mushy stuff, we're not like that"... I understand, how about a parking lot, street, brick wall, alley and finally you in the fountain! I take clients to all the best spots... And yes I had them go in the fountain 4 times! The first 3 just didn't sell the shot. They wanted to do it and I even brought them a towel. Sweet...

My Nicaragua trip

My Nicaragua trip where I photographed handicapped children being fitted in their own new wheel chairs! It may sound like a strange thing to photograph but take a look because everyone really likes it. The small color image launches the slideshow!!!

That giant green apple!

So the little little girl was not so happy about me and my big black camera, but when I had the other two kids sit around her she forgot all about me and started working on her apple. I don't know how but she did break into it all on her own! These kids were at this couple's wedding in May and they were in the bride's room for this photo. I took many portraits of everybody that came into Amy's room that day, even the relatives from Japan who don't smile. Well, that's what Amy said... no really she told me not to bother because they weren't going to smile anyway. How funny...

Magic Fountian

My favorites from Sarah's Rancho Capistrano wedding!

Anabel & Jason!

Some favorites here... these effects are typical of what I produce for all my clients as part of my base editing package. From Anabel's wedding here I gave them 235 images edited with particular effects like the six effects used above. Aren't they a cool unique couple!
Not all clients want to mess around like this. Here are the names of the effects used, I made all of them but the first... 1-parker james brown 2-grayscale 3-high contrast greyscale 4-pump it & high contrast 5-pump it 6-sepia pump 7-high contrast. Each effect I design is used on my images to enhance my photographic style and the image's scene.

We Be Blue

So about the location... I know what you're thinking- Wow! that is some really cool graffiti!.. First let me say that these guys wanted me to take them here. I mean it was my idea but still they were totally up for it. So guess what she does? She's a teacher. Little kids...

This could be any street - with a blue bike and a couple acting like their all alone! Ha ha... I did three things in this composition- you can stop reading here if you don't care about this stuff- I framed them on the left, I placed the bike on the right pointing to them, the front wheel close enough to them so the image is not two separate sides. And finally I had them turn just slightly away from me and more into each other. They seem to be trying to hide just a little from the camera. I thought it might give a little hint of romanticism. Something only they know. Sweet. The calm attitude of the couple is complemented by the overall editing (they are a very calm couple). I'm not saying it is perfect, but for several reasons I like looking at it. Now if the person living in 225 would have opened his door with a surprised look I might say it is perfect. Let's say this is not a street you would usually see a young white couple on...

Soooo Cute

Engagement shoot, secret location (hint is this is a college bar).

Baby Kiss N

Often at weddings I spend a few moments with kids. This little guy is the bride's sister's baby. We were at the sister's home and they are on their bed. Their were at least three women, dad and a few more standing behind me when I took this. I needed them to get the baby's attention but it is the little girl's eyes that make the image, for me anyway. I love photographing kids. The small ones are really funny because if they like the image I show them (back of the camera) they get really excited and run away! Woo Hoo

Brush my hair!

Kids are so funny when their parents try to brush their hair. I took this June 1st, 2008 at a wedding. I loved it so I made a dramatic B&W with selective lighting and vinyett. This is the little girl who is kissing the baby in the above picture! So moody...
